Having lights in our yards is something that we all appreciate. Installing yard lights has been and continues to be an important service for our members. H-D Electric offers lights on buildings or poles, as well as flood or spotlight options. There are two types of installation of yard lights; rental and non-rental.
Rental Yard Lights
Rental yard lights are installed on an H-D overhead primary line pole with a transformer or if for an underground service on a pole right next to the transformer. There is no cost for installation, energy or maintenance for a rental yard light but instead all that is included in the monthly fee. An agreement to have the light up for at least a year is required. H-D only installs LED for new rental lights and you have the option to have a switch installed on the light for an additional fee, otherwise the light will operate automatically from dusk to dawn.
Non-Rental Yard Lights
Non-rental yard lights may be mounted on H-D Electric's meter poles, your own poles, or buildings. For non-rental lights you are responsible for the costs of the light, the pole, the wire from your service point to the light, the energy and any parts required when maintenance is needed. If wiring is needed, we have an electrician for hire or you may use your own.
Currently, H-D offers two types of yard lights and we have parts for yard lights we carry:
- 150 watt High Pressure Sodium (HPS) light which includes a refractor lens for a 360-degree coverage. Life span of this type of bulb is estimated to be around 12,000 to 24,000 hours.
- SecureLite II is a very efficient, long-lasting, bright LED light which energy savings pays for the additional investment costs. Life span is estimated to be around 100,000 hours, a very long time.
